This is the objective and philosophy followed closely by the Tamil Department. We give importance in cultivating pupils’ interest in Tamil Language as well as in the Tamil culture. This is done through these various following activities:

Through these meaningful activities, we help our pupils to learn about our language and culture and be competent in Tamil Language. These activities aim to promote higher order thinking skills among our Tamil pupils. Pupils from other races are also given opportunity to explore and learn about Indian culture through activities like Tamil Cultural Camp and IPW week.
Pupils are made IT Savvy through IT workshops and IPW projects. Three P5 pupils came in as 2nd runner ups for a National Tamil IT competition in 2006. In 2007, Tamil pupils from P4 and P5 did a splendid job in their Tamil project which were well appreciated by the school.
We aim to develop our pupils holistically. Emphasis is not only given in academic excellence, but also in the Arts and culture. Pupils develop their talents in singing, dancing etc due the annual school concerts like Deepavali and Tamil New Year Show. They also strongly supported to participate in various zonal and national competitions. As a result, pupils have victoriously won trophies and prizes in singing, fashion parade and drawing.
Culture is promoted by fun outdoor and indoor programmes like Tamil Cultural Camp, Learning Journey and Cultural concerts. Here pupils learn about more about their Indian heritage in Arts and games. Furthermore, we are proud to announce that we have achieved 100% passes and 100% quality passes for PSLE in Tamil Language for 2007.
Hence, the Tamil Department will continue in developing the pupils academically and morally by adapting and conducting these effective programmes and strategies.
